Albert Einstein presented his dissertation on July 20, 1905, at the University of Zurich. Shortly after, he published four papers that presented revolutionary ideas, including the Theory of Special Relativity and the Light Quanta Hypothesis. Einstein was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to Theoretical Physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect."
