The ERIA School of Government (SOG) invites fellows to join a community dedicated to addressing regional public policy challenges in ASEAN and East Asia. Based in Jakarta, Indonesia, and collaborating with the ASEAN Secretariat, this fellowship aims to cultivate expertise in ASEAN and regional affairs. It seeks to establish and strengthen a community of experts focused on advancing regional public interests, crucial for community-building in Southeast Asia and East Asia. The SOG functions as a hub for networking and community-building, supporting the creation of a strong public policy community across Southeast Asia and East Asia, and elevating the region’s policy ideas and governance experience in international policy conversations.
Target Audience:
• Academic individuals holding a doctoral degree or higher.
• Professionals with 10 years or more of service as a government official.
• Individuals with policy-relevant experience and/or knowledge in government, academia, think tanks, international organizations, or similar institutions.
• All nationalities with research interests addressing regional issues in ASEAN and East Asia.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
• Geographic Eligibility: Open to all nationalities, with a focus on research interests addressing regional issues in ASEAN and East Asia. Residency during the fellowship will be in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Tangible Benefits:
• An allowance equivalent to up to USD 5,000 per full month of residency at the ERIA School of Government. The allowance is calculated proportionally based on the actual period of residency (3 to 11 months) and supports research activities and living expenses.
• Access to ERIA’s extensive research resources and networks in ASEAN.
• Opportunities to engage with policymakers, researchers, and regional institutions.
• Collaboration opportunities with ERIA researchers and relevant ASEAN stakeholders.
• Primary base at the ERIA Annex Office, with time at the ERIA Headquarters within the ASEAN Secretariat, both in central Jakarta.

• Opportunity to attend public lectures, executive roundtables, and other events organized by the ERIA School of Government.

• Fellowship Programme Commencement: October 1, 2026.
• Term of Fellowship: Three to eleven months within the period of October 1, 2026, to August 31, 2027.
