It's that time of the year again - the third Summer of Math Exposition, affectionately known as SoME3, has been kicked off by the splendid math enthusiast and creator of 3Blue1Brown, Grant Sanderson! This event is a wonderful opportunity for all you math lovers out there to put on your creative hats and bring to life your unique online math explanations. Whether you're a student, a teacher, or just a math aficionado, as long as you're bubbling with a math lesson that the world needs to hear, SoME3 is the platform for you!
And guess what? There's more than just sharing your love for math at stake! Get ready to race towards the August 18th deadline because there are exciting prizes up for grabs. Five fabulous winners will each receive $1,000 and a shiny golden pi, while 20 honorable mentions will bag $500 each. Plus, winners and many honorable mentions will have the chance to shine in a 3blue1brown video summarizing the event. Talk about a math-tastic experience!.
But wait, there's even more! After the submission deadline, there's a peer review session lined up. Participants (and any other math enthusiasts who want to join in) will use a system that shows two different entries and asks them to vote on which is the best. This not only helps in ranking the entries but also provides a great opportunity to discover new math content and creators. It's like a math festival, where everybody gets to appreciate and learn from each other's work.
When you're ready with your entry, head over to the event's website and submit it. And don't worry if you're not able to create an entry - you can still participate in the peer review session and enjoy the math extravaganza!
To make sure you're up to speed with all the happenings, join the lively community on Discord where you can collaborate, share your progress, and ask questions. And if you have any SoME-specific questions, feel free to email [email protected]. Remember to keep an eye on the 3blue1brown mailing list for all the updates throughout the summer.
So, let's give a big cheer to Jane Street, the generous sponsor of this year's event, and to Frédéric Crozatier for putting together the peer review website, and of course, to James Schloss for helping to organize everything. Let's get the math party started!.
