The Department of Computing Science at Umeå University is offering five postdoctoral fellowships in the Autonomous Distributed Systems (ADS) lab. The fellowships are full-time and will last two years, starting on May 1st 2023 or by agreement.

The department and research group are diverse and conduct world-leading research in computing science. The scholarships are funded by the Kempe Foundation and amount to 350,000 SEK per year, plus travel and equipment funding, and are not subject to tax.

The scholarship projects aim to establish a Center of Excellence in Autonomous Distributed Systems with a focus on management in Edge and Cloud systems. The postdoctoral fellows will study topics such as energy-efficient cloud technology, cloud-edge simulation, efficient autonomous management systems, and autonomic anomaly detection for microservices.

Applicants must have a PhD in Distributed Systems, be able to co-operate, take initiative, and have strong English skills. Desired qualifications include a strong background in Cloud-Edge systems, programming ability, a strong publication record, and experience in systems and DevOps tools.
